Richard Kanka, the father of Megan Kanka, blasts rapper Megan Thee Stallion for using her daughter's name in her expletive-filled song "HISS."

Megan Thee Stallion's "HISS" was perceived as a diss track against Nicki Minaj, after she referenced "Megan's Law," a legal jargon denoting the requirement of law enforcement authorities to make information available to the public regarding registered sex offenders. This was Megan's jab toward Minaj's husband, Kenneth Petty, a registered sex offender.

Kanka Family Slams Megan Thee Stallion For Using 'Megan's Law'

According to TMZ, Richard Kanka, the father of the late Megan Kanka, "dragging his late daughter's name" into the diss track is as "disrespectful as it gets." From his point of view, even though Megan Thee Stallion appears to have shed light on the law "doesn't change his sour feeling" at all toward her usage of the legal jargon.

He also noted that using his daughter's name in such a "graphic/offensive manner" was "highly offensive to the pain his daughter and family felt."

Kanka admitted that he hasn't listened to the song just yet, but upon reading the lyrics, the song is still a "no-go" for him.

These hoes don't be mad at Megan [referring to herself], these hoes mad at Megan's Law," Megan Thee Stallion rapped in a now-famous verse.

What Is Megan's Law?

For those who do not know, Megan's Law was an informal name for a federal law in the country requiring law enforcement authorities to make information available to the public regarding registered sex offenders.

The said name was inspired by the 1994 murder of 7-year-old Megan Kanka, who was raped and murdered by her neighbor, Jesse Timmendequas, who was previously convicted of child molestation.

As for Kenneth Petty, Rolling Stone reports that in 2022, he was sentenced to a year under home confinement with three years probation for failing to register in California as a sex offender.
