Morgan Wade made a brave move to prevent herself from developing cancer.

On Sunday, March 24, the country singer took to Instagram to share her health journey with her fans.

She uploaded side-by-side photos of herself after undergoing a double mastectomy and reconstruction in November.

Morgan Wade Speaks About Her Health Journey

The 29-year-old "Fall In Love With Me" singer revealed that she discovered her RAD51D gene mutation before her operation.

The "cancer protection gene" helps women protect themselves against ovarian and breast cancer by showing susceptibility to the two dreaded diseases.

"It's been 4 months and I've been back to powerlifting and running. Started back to that around January. There have been a few things I haven't been able to do until now - the last month I've finally been back to doing what I want," she noted.

Wade confirmed she had her whole breast removed - even her nipples - because her aunt's condition started in her milk ducts.

Months after the life-changing move, she admitted to adjusting to how different her body looks. Despite losing her chest, Wade said it was worth it and that she had zero regrets when she did it.

After the initial procedure, the "Take Me Away" singer would reportedly undergo egg retrieval, hysterectomy (procedure to remove her uterus) and oophorectomy (surgical removal of her ovary).

"Thank you all for continuous prayers and support and love. Excited to be working and getting ready for tour," she ended her post.

Apart from her RAD51D gene mutation, her family history of breast cancer also pushed her to make the decision.
