Lorde is gearing up for new music after admitting she "stepped away" from working on her new album.

The "Royals" singer has released her new cover of Talking Heads' "Take Me to the River" for A24's upcoming Stop Making Sense cover album. She shared on Instagram that tackling the song inspired her to get back to work on her long-awaited fourth record.

"Stepping away from my own project for a couple ended up giving me a HUGE piece of the puzzle," she wrote on her Instagram story. "Had just gone dark, was feeling returned to, masc n femme in balance, electrified and at peace."

The photo, featuring the "Solar Power" singer looking Zen while sunbathing, is a rare social media update from the artist. She completely quit social media during her last album cycle, solely communicating with her fans via email newsletters.

To commemorate the release of the new cover, A24 has dropped a new letter from Lorde for her fans. released by A24. The note speaks of her first time watching a Talking Heads video.

"I feel a portal open between me and the screen. Humour, lust, rhythm and ritual course through me. I don't understand what I'm feeling, but I do understand that the band in the grainy video live with the same strangeness that I do."

The formative exposure to the David Byrne band led to many viewings of Stop Making Sense, the band's 1984 concert film that the upcoming covers album is based upon. Now, during Lorde's full circle moment of releasing an official cover for the band, she seems to be more inspired than ever to get her own music out.

The last update on new music from Lorde came when she took to Instagram to share that she was "listening to herself" late last year. The surprise social media post led to many eager fans assuming that a music drop was imminent.
