Tilian Pearson has been a staple in his band, Dance Gavin Dance, for over a decade, but after his 12-year run with the group, his bandmates decided to part ways with him. What's next for them after his departure?

Taking to their official Instagram account, the group issued a statement about Pearson's departure, explaining that the band, as a collective, has "decided to say farewell to our long time member and friend, Tilian."

"We wish him luck, along with our support and respect for his future endeavors in music and life," they added.

Dance Gavin Dance's remaining members then expressed their gratitude for Pearson's contribution throughout his time with the group.

Dance Gavin Dance Parts Ways With Tilian Pearson Due to Creative Differences?

Although the exact reason for his departure was not stated, the band hinted that it might be due to their different perspectives and goals.

"As people grow and change, creative differences can arise and life paths and goals may no longer align," they added.

Regarding the band's future, they revealed that they will "move forward" with a brand new era without Pearson.

The open letter was signed by members Will Swan, Matthew Mingus, Jon Mess, and Andrew Wells.

Tilian Pearson Speaks Out

After the big announcement, Variety reported that Tilian Pearson also shared his statement on his social media profile, saying he will embark on a new chapter.

Now that he's not in a band anymore, he will continue making new music "on a different canvas." Teasing fans about his next project, he revealed that he's currently working on a brand new album and will perform his new songs live.

His last solo album, Factory Reset, was released in 2021.

Not Tilian Pearson's First Time Leaving Dance Gavin Dance

This was not the first time Tilian Pearson had to take some time off from the band, as he also left in June 2022 after sexual misconduct allegations and his problems with substance abuse.

He only lasted a few months as the group welcomed him back in November 2022.

Pearson had been a member of the band since 2012, when Jonny Craig left for the second time. Throughout his time with Dance Gavin Dance, he worked on six albums, including Artificial Selection, Acceptance Speech, Afterburner, Jackpot Juicer, and Instant Gratification.
