Taylor Swift and Shania Twain go way back, and the former considers the country legend one of her inspirations in music. Today, the "Man! I Feel Like a Woman" songstress applauded the pop star for her work ethic while acknowledging that her work as a musician is hard.

The Canadian icon recently appeared on the cover of Haute Living, where she shared stories about paving the way for other female musicians outside of her generation and Swift's passion as an artist.

Looking back on her impact on music and other people, Twain said she never intended to be "a trailblazer," and she never would've thought she would be one later in her career.

From what she could remember, she only tried to present her authentic self and "do it with conviction."

"I'm an expressive person, and I put that into my music. I was saying it with attitude and with confidence because I meant it," she added.

Regardless, she still considers being called a trailblazer a "compliment," but she didn't see her achieving that earlier in her career.

"It isn't even about ambition, though I'm sure that most people would call her ambitious. She's an extremely hard worker, and I'm sure she's got giant goals. But it's not all about ambition: it's about passion and committing yourself to your passion," she added. (via People Magazine)

During Taylor Swift's early days in her career, she never forgot to credit Shania Twain for inspiring her as a musician.

In an article published by CMT in 2010, the pop star said she used to watch the country singer when she was a kid and thought that if ever she got a chance to be on stage, she would take the opportunity to thank her.

She also noted that Dolly Parton was one of her inspirations at the time.
