A writer wrote a negative review for Taylor Swift's The Tortured Poets Department but remained anonymous over safety concerns.

Several critics have shared their reactions to Swift's latest album, with most of their reviews highlighting the negative parts of the project. Although some also offered positive responses, other reviewers remained anonymous due to the threats they received.

Taylor Swift Posts "TTPD" Positive Reviews

On Sunday, April 21, Swift reported Rolling Stone's Come for the Torture, Stay for the Poetry review on her Instagram Stories.

"And that's the closest I've come to my heart exploding," she responded, referencing a line from her new album's track.

Swift also shared The Times' five-star review and used "The Alchemy" lyric as a response, writing, "These chemicals hit me like whiiiiite wiiiiine."

The reactions came after Paste Magazine shared its review on X alongside the caption, "#TaylorSwift is the most famous musician-and, arguably, person-on Earth, but on 'The Tortured Poets Department,' she can't help but infantilize the very people who buy into her music and drive her successes upwards in the first place."

However, the magazine reportedly decided not to include the writer's byline after previously receiving "threats of violence from readers who disagreed with the work."

Paper Magazine added that it cares more about the staff's safety and removed the critic's name from the article.

Taylor Swift's "The Tortured Poets Department" Has Broken Records

Despite the negative reviews, the 34-year-old "So Long, London" singer has shattered records since the release of her 11th studio album.

She broke the record her 1989 (Taylor's Version) made in October while securing the top three spots on Spotify's most-streamed albums in a single day with TTPD, 1989 (Taylor's Version) and Midnights.

According to Billboard, TTPD sold 1.4 million copies on the first day. She also scored her 14th chart-topper and extended her reign as the female artist with the most No. 1 albums.

Swift's boyfriend, Travis Kelce, also played a huge role in the success.

"He knows how much this means to her and thinks she's extremely talented," a source told ET. "Taylor and Travis admire each other's creative processes and work ethic. They cheer each other on, respect each other's opinions, and are open and communicative."
