Kim Petras took to her social media platforms to share the cancellation of all her scheduled festival performances for the summer of 2024.

The 31-year-old German singer cited "health issues" as the reason behind her decision, expressing her disappointment in having to withdraw from the upcoming shows.

It's not clear exactly what these health issues are.

The "When We Were Young" singer told her followers on X, "My buns, I'm devastated to be writing this but I'm going through some health issues and under medical advice I have had to make the hard decision to not perform at festivals this summer."

The singer added, "I love u so much and I'll make it up to you and be back better than ever very soon."

In a groundbreaking moment, Petras made history by being the first transgender woman to clinch the Best Pop Duo Grammy award.

While not disclosing the specific health challenges she was facing, Petras had upcoming performances lined up at LadyLand Music Fest in June and at Primavera Sound in Barcelona, Mighty Hoopla, and Capitol Hill Block Party.

Feeling Exposed

This comes after Petras expressed feeling overwhelmed by the sudden increase in people paying attention to her, describing the experience as uncomfortable and nerve-wracking. She noted how she felt more scrutinized than ever before.

The "Treat Me Like A S**t" singer told Cosmo UK, "Therapy was also necessary for me after having a huge song, to learn how to shut everything off."

"I had therapy in my teen years and stopped when things got busy. But I missed having someone to let everything out to. I recommend therapy to everyone; it's an essential tool... The music industry can get very hectic."

Rise to Stardom

Petras's initial foray into the mainstream pop music scene began with the debut of her first single, "I Don't Want It All," which caught the attention of many in 2017.

Embarking on a joint project with longtime companion Sam Smith on the chart-topping hit "Unholy" undeniably propelled Petras towards fame, attracting a new wave of fans.

She electrified audiences in 2023 by making a bold stage appearance alongside Smith at the prestigious 2023 Grammy and BRIT Awards.

Emerging as a rising star from Cologne, Petras first captured the public's attention in 2006. At just 13 years old, she appeared on the television program Stern to share her journey of transitioning genders.

Identified as Tim at birth, Petras embraced her identity as a girl from the tender age of two. By the time she turned 12, she had embarked on hormone replacement therapy as a crucial step in her gender transition.

At the age of 16, Petras made history by undergoing gender reassignment surgery, becoming the youngest individual to do so. Her presence on television during her teenage years earned her the title of "the world's youngest transsexual."
