Slipknot's new drummer, Eloy Casagrande, has broken his silence for the first time since joining the band.

Formerly of Sepultura, Casagrande was officially announced as Slipknot's new drummer on Tuesday (April 30). A day later, he took to Instagram to show off a photo of him wearing his new Slipknot mask and gear and share a message with fans.

"It's an exciting moment. Unthinkable until then. There is nothing to lose, there is nothing to win. There is just living. We're here as one," he wrote.

"Thank you, Slipknot, for trusting me. Thanks all the maggots and fans around the world," he added.

"See you on the road. Here comes more pain."

Even before Casagrande was officially announced, the band appeared Saturday night as one of the headliners at the Sick New World festival in Las Vegas.

Casagrande was also behind the kit when the band played a small warmup show on April 25 at Pappy and Harriet's in Pioneertown, Calif.

Slipknot parted ways with their last drummer, Jay Weinberg, back in November and has been teasing fans about revealing his replacement for weeks. Back in March, the band posted a photo of a broken drumstick captioned "Rehearsal."

Slipknot claimed in a statement that it was a creative decision to part with Weinberg. He responded saying he was "heartbroken and blindsided" to be sacked by the band.

Weinberg, who is the son of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band drummer Max Weinberg, has since resurfaced as a drummer for Suicidal Tendencies and Infectious Grooves.

As for Casagrande, he exited Sepultura three months ago, right before the band was to begin rehearsal for its recently started 40th anniversary farewell trek.

"February 6th, a few days prior to the first rehearsal, drummer Eloy Casagrande informed the band that he was leaving Sepultura to pursue a career in another project," the band said in a statement.
