A-list Met Gala guests were shocked to find out that Ariana Grande would be the surprise musical performer for the evening.

This year's Gala spotlighted the 30-year-old singer-songwriter as she delivered a captivating performance, showcasing a medley of her chart-topping hits.

Additionally, Grande unveiled a special treat: a duet with her fellow Wicked cast member, Cynthia Erivo.

According to Vogue, the "7 Rings" singer donned a striking green dress adorned with floral ruffles that playfully accentuated her bra, showcasing bold fashion choices. This outfit sharply contrasts the sophisticated white Loewe dress she had worn to a high-profile event, with its intricate pleated skirt stealing the spotlight.

Grande donned bespoke split-toed Tabi shoes by Christian Louboutin for Maison Margiela to make a statement, incorporating a cincher to accentuate her slender waist.

While most of Grande's performance showcased her own songs, the former Nickelodeon star also charmed the audience with a spellbinding rendition of "Once Upon A Dream," a nostalgic song from Disney's timeless animated masterpiece Sleeping Beauty.

The tune was transformed and paired with lyrics crafted by Jack Lawrence and Sammy Fain where they drew inspiration from Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty ballet. While the current motif doesn't directly reference fairy tales, it still resonates with timeless narratives, adding a fitting touch to this song's selection.

Following Grande's stellar performance of the crowd-favorite "Into You" from Dangerous Woman album, she seamlessly transitioned into the chart-topping single "7 Rings," a major hit from her 2019 album Thank U, Next.

The next set of songs in her lineup were all new tracks from the highly anticipated release Eternal Sunshine.

Grande mesmerized the audience with her rendition of "The Boy Is Mine," a famous top 20 track. Following that, she belted out her chart-topping song "We Can't Be Friends (Wait For Your Love)."

She and Erivo enchanted the crowd with a soulful rendition of "When You Believe," a classic song from the animated movie The Prince Of Egypt (1998). The original song was performed by Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston.

In Wicked: Part One, fans can look forward to seeing Erivo take on the role of Elphaba, the green-skinned witch who transforms into the infamous Wicked Witch of the West, while Grande shines as Glinda from L Frank Baum's timeless literary works and the beloved Wizard Of Oz movie adaptation.

Scheduled for release this year is the first part of a two-part movie, hitting theaters on November 27, 2024.
