Slayer is gearing up for an upcoming series of reunion shows this year, and many fans wonder if they will release new music following their concerts. More recently, Kerry King set the record straight and revealed the band's next move.

According to Loudwire, Slayer closed the chapter of their careers in 2019 after playing their final shows. Earlier this year, King revealed that he hadn't spoken to his bandmate Tom Araya for years.

The guitarist was busy working on his solo project then and has since released his first single, "Idle Hands."

In February 2024, many fans were surprised to learn that Slayer would make a comeback on the big stage five years after performing at their final concerts.

The band is a headliner at the upcoming Louder Than Life festival and Riot Fest.

Even though the band will reunite this year, Kerry King assured fans that they will not release new music soon and won't embark on a reunion tour.

Speaking in an interview with Metal Hammer, King said their upcoming shows are meant to celebrate their final performance in 2019.

"For me, it's three shows marking five years since our final shows, a fun, 'Hey, remember us from before the pandemic?' celebration," he said.

Slayer may be reuniting in a few months, but King revealed that he hadn't spoken to Araya yet. He clarified that there was no bad blood between them.

"It's not like I'm angry with him or anything. We're very different people, and we evolved into business partners at the end of the day. He has very different interests from me, and very different outlooks. Does that make me hate him? No," he said.

He continued that they don't have to talk to each other every day as they have few things  in common, but when it's time for them to work as bandmates to rehearse and perform, he will show up as both of them are professionals.

Fans should expect Slayer to perform at Louder Than Life and Riot Fest in September 2024. They are also slated to headline the Aftershock Festival on October 10, 2024.

In other updates about the guitarist, Kerry King launched his solo band and announced his album, "From Hell I Rise."
