Monday's Met Gala brought new drama for rapper Cardi B after she failed to remember the name of the designer who created her dress.

The "Bodak Yellow" hitmaker sported a gorgeous, massive black tulle gown that required the assistance of nine handlers to aid her in walking up the stairs and down the carpet of the event.

Vogue red carpet correspondent Emma Chamberlain asked Cardi who designed her impressive dress. The "WAP" hit maker struggled to answer the question.

"Do you feel amazing? Who made this?" asked Chamberlain.

"I feel amazing. It's this amazing designer, they're Asian and everything," replied Cardi in a chipper voice.

Sensen Lii is the Chinese designer who crafted Cardi's masterful dress. Gilbert Cheah, the former managing director of Vogue, called out Cardi for her brash comment. Taking to an Instagram comment section, Cheah had some choice words.

"For the record and recognition, and no thanks to Cardi B, the designer of her gown is Sensen Lii, who's Chinese." He continued, writing that the gown "took two months to make" but that it is "boring and not even on theme."

"She chose it and should at least remember [Lii's] name and not just that he's 'Asian,'" he concluded.

Cardi immediately faced backlash throughout the internet, with many disappointed that she couldn't be bothered to remember Lii's name. "Shame on you!" wrote one commenter on the star's Instagram post following the Gala. Another wrote, "Cardi you had one job to remember the designer name!! Not some asian person. That was super disappointing."

Cardi responded to the backlash with a video shared by TMZ, hoping to clear her name. "My mind was just racing," she admitted.

"When I was on the carpet, I was very scared," she said, following up by saying that she was being rushed and was unable to pose the way she had practiced. She added that she had "a lot on her mind."

"When I was getting interviewed, I kinda forgot to pronounce the designer's name because his name is a little bit complicated. So, I was like damn, how do I pronounce his name?" she said.

She responded to Cheah's harsh comment, saying that she thought he "got offended" by her words. Cardi clarified that she did not remember Lii's nationality when Chamberlain asked her the question, and did not want to say the wrong answer.

"I didn't want to get somebody's nationality mixed up, so I said 'Asian designer.'" She said that she did not intend to be "offensive" or get people's "speedos in a bunch."

She then challenged those who had "shady" comments about her outfit. She chirped Cheah, saying "this is why you're the former director." She claimed that he "offended" her stylist, designer and other people working behind-the-scenes to create her dress' design.

"Baby, I'm Cardi B. Stop it," she declared in response to the criticism, before concluding, "I'm gonna go shopping, have a good day, thank you."
