A mysterious countdown to Black Friday on Twitter has Rihanna fans buzzing that her new record may be on the way - with a surprise debut not unlike the rollout of Beyoncé's self-titled 2013 effort. In recent days, RiRi's brother, Rajad Fenty, had been posting mysterious tweets, counting down the days to Nov. 28, and it may all mean a new Rihanna album.
Beginning on Nov. 20, Fenty began posting single numbers on his Twitter account (@RjFenty15) counting down to some sort of announcement, starting with the number "8." Each day since, he's just posted a single number, with little comment except after the first cryptic message.
The countdown is bringing up massive new album speculation within Rihanna's fanbase, particularly because Fenty began his countdown with eight days to go. The next Rihanna album will be her eighth LP, after all.
Fenty has denied in @ messages that "R8" will be released in just three days (as of now), but that could be because the new album is actually called something else.
Rihanna fans will remember last month, when a supposed tracklist for a new album surfaced online. As Music Times previously reported, the supposed press release revealed that Rihanna's eighth studio album would be called Lost Files. Originally due out today (Nov. 25), the album is reported to feature the likes of Drake, Nicki Minaj, Big Sean and Eminem.
Following the leaked album info, it could be very possible that Rihanna's label is going for the surprise release on one of the biggest shopping days of the year.
Regardless, Rihanna is confirmed to have a new album in the works. She's tweeted previously that she "can't sleep because of the new music." So, something's on the way... and fans can only hope that it'll drop this week.
