Damon Albarn's highly anticipated debut solo album, Everyday Robots, is streaming in its entirety one week ahead of its official release date, April 29 via Warner Bros. Records.
Leading up to the release, Albarn debuted a handful of songs including "Everyday Robots," "Lonely Press Play," "You and Me," "Heavy seas of Love" and "Mr. Tembo."
Everyday Robots marks Albarn's first solo album, following his work with Blur and Gorillaz. The 12-track effort features collaborations with Brian Eno and Bat for Lashes' Natasha Khan with production from XL Recordings boss Richard Russell. It focuses on humanity's ever-changing relationship with technology and draws from Albarn's childhood.
"The album is about going back and seeing into the near future, wondering about the effect that that technology is going to have on us, emotionally," he told Pitchfork. "We're in a period of massive technological transformation right now, and I wanted to comment on that."
This album is also his most personal to date. "It's a record about me," he told Rolling Stone. " That's how I conceptualize it -- I've written a song about Damon Albarn, you know what I mean? That sounds a bit weird. Maybe I am a bit weird. But that's how I see it. ...This is one aspect of what I'm doing at the moment. It's where I'm being myself."
Pre-orders for the album are ongoing. Listen to the full stream here (via iTunes Radio), and let us know what you think in the comments section below!
