2015 came and went without a release of Drake’s Views From The 6. Fans have anticipated the highly sought after album for some time now, and it looks like the waiting game may be coming to a close. While taking the stage for a New Year’s Eve performance, Drake told a crowd that VFT6 is coming “very soon.”
Drizzy hit the stage at E11EVEN nightclub in Miami, where Lil Wayne and Birdman reconciled, and shared the news with a packed house. The Toronto rapper has yet to release any substantial details relating to the album, but the mere mention provides a glimmer of hope for anxious fans.
Twitter users who got wind of the “Hotline Bling” crooner’s announcement shared their excitement, while others speculated that the album would be released some time this month, making reference to a line from Drake’s “30 For 30 Freestyle” from WATTBA.
“I guess you just making moves on your own time / But just know it'll be January in no time,” he rapped.
Back in November, a mysterious billboard seen in Drake’s hometown led many to believe that the album’s release was approaching. Adding to its mystique, Drake shared a photo of the black billboard, which read, "The 6 is watching." He captioned the photo on Instagram with, “be home soon.”
Drake first revealed the title of his fourth studio effort back in July of 2014. It was believed that the album would drop in spring 2015 because of a line from "0-100 / The Catch Up,” where he raps, "We already got spring 2015 poppin' / PND droppin' / Reps-Up P droppin' / Majid Jordin droppin' / OB droppin' not to mention me droppin'."
Hopefully Drake's recent announcement means the release will actually come to fruition. Check back with us for more updates.
