Morrissey Reportedly Still Hospitalized Following Cancelled Tour, According to Cliff Richard

Remember when Morrissey cancelled his entire North American tour for the fifth time in five years earlier this month due to a virus? Well, according to his tour opener Cliff Richard, the "World Peace Is None Of Your Business" singer's condition may be a little more dire than anticipated. At a concert over the weekend, Richards indicated that nearly two weeks after scrapping his live dates, Moz is still in the hospital.

Over the weekend, Richard - who was due to open for Morrissey at Brooklyn's Barclays Center on June 21 - threw a free concert for disappointed fans at New York's Gramercy Theater and indicated that Morrissey may be quite sick, according to Stereogum. Richard reportedly remarked that Morrissey was still hospitalized as of Saturday.

Despite the cancelled gigs and newly bad blood between Morrissey and his first tour opener Kristeen Young, Richard had nothing but well wishes for the former Smiths frontman. He indicated he'd still be open to supporting Moz on a future tour.

The news of Morrissey remaining in the hospital follows the cancellation of his 2014 North American tour. After fully scrapping or postponing four shows at the beginning of June, Morrissey canned the remainder of his live obligations on June 11, citing a respiratory infection.

"It is with great sadness that the remainder of the US Tour has been cancelled. The respiratory infection Morrissey contracted in Miami has worsened, and in the interest of making a full recovery, all further touring plans have been halted," a statement on Morrissey's official Facebook page said. "Morrissey thanks his fans for their compassion, understanding, and well-wishes during this difficult period as he recuperates."

Morrissey blamed his viral infection on Kristeen Young, who vehemently denies his claims.
