Both Latto and Doechii were awarded at the Billboard Women in Music Ceremony last night, Mar. 1, 2023, at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles, California.

Latto received her Powerhouse Award from the ceremony while Doechii was deemed Billboard's Rising Star. In two separate speeches, thanked their own idols, and people who had helped them along the way.

Doechii Wins Rising Star Award, Thanks Nicki Minaj, Lady Gaga

According to Doechii, receiving the Rising Star Award is a "huge huge step" for her.

"Thank God for my Mom. This is a special night for me, because bit-- i just wanna win something like. I just wanna win! So it feels so good! Thank you Coven! Y'all be going crazy, the first one to post everything, sneakin' to my rehearsals weird vibes. But, thank you guys so much for everything," she said in her speech.

But as Doechii shouted out the artists who came before her who also received the same award like Janelle Monae, Lady Gaga, and especially Nicki Minaj, the cameras panned to an unamused Latto, who infamously had a Twitter spat with her former idol, Nicki Minaj.

As soon as the snippet of Doechii's speech hit online, Barbz was quick to react to Billboard's cameramen, lauding them for the perfect timing to see Latto's reaction to Doechii's speech, especially after the Nicki Minaj mention.

Meanwhile, netizens were also quick to drag Latto after she gave her own speech, and seemingly copied Doechii's speech earlier.

Latto Receives Powerhouse Award

Presented by Chloe Bailey who won last year's Rising Star Award with her sister Halle Bailey, Latto was described to be someone who is a "force to be reckoned with" and "the personification of a power station."

In her speech, Latto immediately gave flowers to previous winners of the award too, exactly like how Doechii did.

"Megan Thee Stallion won this award, Doja Cat won this award," she started. "It's crazy because my peers, I'm fans of my peers, and they're my peers. [The] Powerhouse award is not just for my team too. Teamwork makes the dream work.

A fan posted hers and Doechii's speech side by side in a tweet, implying that she purposefully copied Doechii and omitted Minaj on the shoutout to spite her.

Latto, however, hit back pointing out that it was a "reach," saying that she only thanked the people who actually won the award before.

Nicki Minaj did not win the Powerhouse Award but she won twice already - Rising Star in 2011 and Game Changer in 2019.

However, the two female rappers' night did not end there yet.

According to an insider, there was an "intense exchange of words backstage" between Doechii and Latto following the copying of speeches last night.

"Sources say Doechii "checked" Latto for making a mockery of her acceptance speech, which then lead to an intense argument between the two. Before security intervened, sources say that Doechii was about to "crack" Latto," the tweet reads. "Billboard, allegedly, asked Latto & her team to escort themselves from the premises after her performance, which is why she cannot be seen throughout the rest of the show."
