Janelle Monae was on a hiatus for quite a long time for her music career. In the meantime, Monae has appeared in various films since taking a break.

Now, her upcoming album, "The Age of Pleasure," might be her biggest album yet. The tracklist and collaborators have finally been unveiled, and it perfectly made sense.

Janelle Monae 'The Age of Pleasure'

According to Monae, the songs in "The Age of Pleasure" were written from such an "honest space."

"Even with this album, this project. I'm just like, 'You know what? It takes work.' I have to learn things all over again. I have to practice. I have to... and thank God I love the songs," she said in a statement to Rolling Stone.

For Monae, she wanted people to feel her presence when listening to her music. The "Hidden Figures" actress said that she had an "opportunity" to evolve and grow throughout her break.

"Sometimes it really is just saying, 'You know what? Let's get back to the basics, and also let's honor the present.'"
