Andy Taylor, popularly known for being the guitarist of Duran Duran for decades now, revealed in a recent interview that his life had been extended for over half a decade due to a medication that he's currently taking amid his battle with prostate cancer; what could it be?

The musician recently spoke with BBC Breakfast where he noted that a doctor contacted him and offered a treatment option years after he revealed to the world that his cancer had reach stage 4.

The English guitarist said he's currently taking a drug called Lutetium-177 which he describes as a "nuclear medicine" which aims to kill cancer cells in a person's body.

Further explaining about the medication, he told the radio show that he started taking the drug more than a month prior and it couldn't see healthy cells.

Fortunately, he claims that it has the ability to extend his life, as he said, "It kills stage four cancer in your bones. And so what it's effectively done is extend my life for five years." (via Rolling Stone)

It appears that things are working out for the best as he later said that his body has been responding good to the medication.

However, he noted that before he started taking the drug, he had to have a good life style and must have a good health.

After undergoing the treatment for the first time, he immediately felt positive things about his body which opted him to ask doctors: "If I'm OK, and you guys say I'm OK and do your blood tests, is it OK to start work again? Light work and get out?"

He later added that he didn't want to be a patient stuck in the hospital, but rather be a "working patient" because it gives him a ray of light as cancer drags him and his family down in "the darkness."

Thanks to the treatment, Taylor said the drug was able to give him enough strength to finish his first album in over three decades.

His new record titled "Man's a Wolf to Man" will be available for streaming on major music platforms starting on September.

Since his battle with cancer, the musician opted to sit out of Duran Duran's tour this year, but despite his absence, fans will still be able to feel his presence in their new record as he contributed to their music.

To give their love back to the guitarist, the band will honor him at the Guild Theatre in Menlo Park, California, on August 19, 2023, for a benefit concert dedicated to him.
