Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom are fighting tooth and nail to keep their luxurious Montecito mansion from the man who sold it to them, business entrepreneur Carl Westcott.

According to People Magazine, the judge presiding over the non-jury trial over the million-dollar mansion ordered the "California Gurls" singer to testify in court.

"I am inclined to have her do it remotely, but I am not inclined to have a closed court. She is a person like anyone else. She is asking for a lot of money," said the judge.

The home was sold to the celebrity couple for $15 million back in July 2020, however, the former owner claims that he "lacked the mental capacity to understand the nature and probable consequences of the contract," as well as signing the contracts. In fact, he claims that he did not even want to sell the Montecito mansion in the first place.

Westcott cites that he just come out from a spinal surgery and painkillers when the sale was completed. He also notes that he suffers from Huntington's Disease.

The legal battle between the two has been going on for quite some time now, and apparently, the Montecito home is a place worth fighting for, too.

According to the New York Post, the mansion was originally built back in the 1930s, by Edwards and Plunkett, and was later renovated by Lutah Maria Riggs, a monumental figure in the American Institute of Architects.

The 9,285 square-foot mansion boasts nine bedrooms and 11 bathrooms across the single-story property. It is also on 2.5 acres of land with surrounding views of mountains and the ocean.

Katy Perry Wants the Montecito Mansion

Before Perry and Bloom were able to get their hands on the luxurious home, it was eyed by another celebrity, Maria Shriver, who offered to buy the home for $13 million, reports say.

Westcott countered with $13.5 million and eventually rescinded it when his real estate agent advised him that he could get a lot more from someone else.

That someone else happened to be the "Teenage Dream" singer and her fiance because they offered to purchase it for a whopping $15 million.

It is obvious that the celebrity couple purchased the home to build their family and raise their little girl, Daisy Dove.
