After shocking fans with the announcement of his new hot sauce business endeavor, Ed Sheeran has once again taken the internet by storm with another unexpected business move.

The musician announced on Instagram that he is releasing his first watch in association with renowned watch companies Hodinkee and G-Shock. "Subtract G-Shock" is the moniker Ed gave his watch.

For his 45.6 million followers, he shared a video in which he unveiled his newly released yellow watch.

 

The hitmaker captioned the post, "Super excited to launch my first watch with @hodinkee. If you've spotted a yellow G Shock on me for the last six months this is it! I got a call from @johnmayer around a year ago asking me if I wanted to make a G Shock with them, and I couldn't have said yes fast enough." 

He continued, "I've loved watches since I can remember but never thought about making my own one, but this is the perfect way to start. Head to Hodinkee shop for more info on them, and hope you enjoy wearing them as much as I do x."

Earlier this year, the artist introduced Tingley Ted's, his line of hot sauce. It is said that his sauce is the ideal side dish for any meal, including fries, nuggets, falafels, and fried chicken. 

According to an expert, fans need not worry that these ventures can take Sheeran away from the music industry. As Nick Ede said, Ed is among the most bankable celebrities in the world thanks to both his brand appeal and musical career.

"He can make a lot of money from brands and add a lot of credibility and value to people he endorses because his image does not define him," the expert clarified.

Ed, who is already a multimillionaire, doesn't need the money, but he has cleverly partnered with marketers that will be paying millions to penetrate various demographics.

Like Adele, he has a certain appeal that appeals to everyone, which is why he is so endearing. We have watched him rise from modest beginnings, but he hasn't lost his touch, which is why companies are eager to sign him as they understand that he appeals to all age groups, all demographics, and all geographic locations-it's just him! Not a big entourage or band.

They will all see a massive return for themselves and for Ed too, but the tie-ups with these huge brands will cost them a lot of money, the expert further said. There is a solid strategy to every brand he has endorsed.

"All of his partnerships enhance him or his music, which is a very astute strategy for safeguarding the Sheeran brand," Ede further explained.
