John Lennon's murderer will be featured in the upcoming documentary about the musician's death.

AppleTV+ documentary "John Lennon: Murder Without A Trial" dropped a new trailer ahead of the release of the three-part series. The flick will highlight the testimonies and statements regarding Lennon's tragic murder.

John Lennon's Killer Apologized

On Apple TV's YouTube channel, the trailer gave fans what they should expect from the upcoming documentary.

At one point in the sneak peek, an eyewitness revealed that the killer - Mark David Chapman - apologized after shooting Lennon.

"He actually apologized to us, he said, 'Gee I'm sorry I ruined your night'. He responded: "You gotta be kidding me, you just ruined your whole life."

Chapman, who was a fan of the group, said he killed Lennon after commenting that "The Beatles were more popular than Jesus" in one of his interviews. He admitted to planning the murder for months and waiting for the singer at The Dakota.

After shooting Lennon outside his apartment building, Chapman stayed beside him while reading "The Catcher in the Rye" - the book that reportedly inspired his brutal killing.

Lennon was rushed to the Roosevelt Hospital but succumbed on Dec. 8, 1980, at 11:15 p.m. after the bullets shredded his internal organs. The doctors tried to revive him for 20 minutes but failed.
