Calum Scott, a singer-songwriter, has decided not to release his new track.

The "You Are The Reason" hitmaker had planned to release his holiday song this month, but he has canceled it because it is just too depressing.

"I've written one, though I think it might be too sad for a Christmas [song]. Maybe December 2024," he told The Sun's Bizarre column.

Reflecting on his holiday plans after a "mega year", he added that he might be playing in Dubai with Lost Frequencies for New Year's Eve.

During the release of his most recent album, "Bridges" (2022), the hitmaker spoke with RETROPOP about his journey through the pop ranks and how his perspective on commercial success has evolved over time.

He shared that at one point in his career, after Dancing On My Own and into You Are The Reason became so successful, he started to think that , he's "just not cool enough."

He said, "My ego got a little bit in the way and I started thinking, 'I'm just not cool. I don't have that kind of edge about me'. And then Lewis Capaldi comes on the scene and he's got this really gravelly voice, singing a love ballad, and everybody loves him. And I got massive impostor syndrome."

"Like, 'He's cool, he's singing ballads - how come I'm not cool?' But I was thinking of it in the wrong way."

He added: "I was trying to define what cool is, but cool is of a moment. Popper trackies were cool at one point. Nobody's wearing those anymore."

He's now at ease with the sound that has brought his music to audiences throughout the world and allowed him to gain admirers on a global scale.

He revealed that he has come into terms with the idea that people won't put on a Calum Scott record before they go out for the evening but realized that the songs, from first album, have had a really big influence on people, who want these played during their wedding.

it makes him think his songs are making peoples' lives better and it feels good to him.
