"Joker: Folie a Deux" by Todd Phillips
After a successful run at the box office in 2019, Todd Phillips decided to follow "Joker" with "Joker: Folie a Deux." Based on the DC Characters, Academy Award winner Joaquin Phoenix reprises his role as Joker while being supported by fellow Academy Award winner Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn.
Based on reports, the second "Joker" movie will be laced with music, with some saying that it would be a Lady Gaga sing-a-long. This could probably earn Lady Gaga her highly-awaited Best Actress Oscar.
"Joker: Folie a Deux" is expected to be released in October 2024.
"Mean Girls" by Samantha Jayne and Arturo Perez
"Mean Girls: The Musical'' will be released in January 2024. Although it received substantial criticism on social media when it's trailer was released, the movie musical adaptation is standing by its commitment to they are adapting the musical show, and not remaking the original 2004 movie.
Reneé Rapp will be playing Regina George, Angourie Rice as Cady Heron, Avantika as Karen Smith, Bebe Wood as Gretchen Weiners, Auli'i Cravalho as Janis Ian, and Jacquel Spivey as Damian.
Tina Fey and Tim Meadows will reprise their roles as Mrs. Norbury and Principal Duvall.
"Wicked" by Jon M. Chu
"Wicked" is by far the most anticipated movie musical adaptation of 2024. Tony-winner Cynthia Erivo and Grammy-winning singer Ariana Grande will star as Elphaba and Glinda, whose roles were originated by Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth on the 2004 Broadway production.
According to original composer Stephen Schwartz, the upcoming film adaptation of the beloved Broadway musical will introduce two new songs for avid fans of the show. In 2023, photos and videos of the show leaked online, giving netizens a peek at what to expect from the said film.
"Wicked: Part 1" will be released in November 2024, while Part 2 will be released separately in November 2025.
