Christian Okoye, a former NFL player and current running back for the Kansas City Chiefs, is defending Taylor Swift in the face of criticism she is facing over the team's recent setbacks.

Pop icon Okoye is defending herself against criticism from fans who claim she is a "distraction" at Chiefs games and that she is dating tight end Travis Kelce.

"She has nothing to do with how the team's doing right now," he said, adding, "Taylor Swift is not on the field. Travis is playing like he always plays. ... Teams are just doubling up on him now knowing that our receivers are dropping the balls."

Taylor Swift attended the majority of the Kansas City Chiefs' seven games, but not all of them, as the team has lost four of those games recently.

The "Love Story" singer is being held accountable by fans despite the fact that the team has not been playing well together and that the offensive line needs improvement.

"When you're doing bad, people have to find excuses and they have to point fingers," Okoye said, adding, "Especially those who don't like the situation about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce."

Sports commentator Skip Bayless stated in the open, "It seems like it's about time to call Taylor Swift a distraction," so fans aren't the only ones who hold Swift accountable. Dear Patrick Mahomes, what are your thoughts? Reid, Andy? Travis, how about you?

In stark contrast, the former NFL player asserts that other teams have "figured out if they can double him up and hold [Patrick] Mahomes in the pocket, everything will be all right for them," which is why he thinks the Chiefs are not doing as well as they once did.

And they are acting in that manner. The Chiefs had a difficult season before, particularly on Christmas Eve when they played the Las Vegas Raiders, but they prevailed over the Cincinnati Bengals on New Year's Eve to secure a postseason spot.

Many fans blamed Taylor Swift on social media after the Christmas Eve game, drawing comparisons between her and Yoko Ono, who some believe was responsible for "The Beatles'" breakup after she started dating John Lennon.

"Taylor Swift is Yoko Ono-ing the Chiefs," one person said on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. "Taylor Swift = Yoko Ono," one user simply wrote.

The "Red" singer has been the target of criticism on social media, but she doesn't care. She told Time Magazine that she is "just [at the Chiefs games] to support Travis [Kelce." "I don't know how they know what suite I'm in," she told the outlet. "There's a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don't know where it is, and you have no idea when the camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don't know if I'm being shown 17 times or once."

"I have no awareness of if I'm being shown too much and pissing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads," she added. On January 7, the Los Angeles Charges and the Kansas City Chiefs will play. No information has been released regarding Taylor Swift's attendance.
