    Today we say goodbye to 2013 and ring in the New Year. Here at Music Times, we are looking forward to a lot next year in terms of music. Although not all of these albums have confirmed release dates, they are all rumored to drop, and it's getting us pretty excited. We have linked to sources, so you can check it out for yourself, too. Back of The Billboards is a Music Times weekly segment that looks at the opposite end: the record that finished at no. 200 for the previous week. We hope to give new life to music that you might have missed, or new life to classic albums you may have forgotten.

  • Alex Chilton 'Electricity By Candlelight' Features Johnny Cash and Beach Boys Acoustic Covers During Power Outage

    In our experience, some of the best live performances come when those onstage are out of their comfort zones, or exposed to conditions outside of the norm. Consider Johnny Cash's "Live at San Quentin" or Nirvana's "MTV Unplugged" acoustic set. Alex Chilton, best known for his time in Memphis power pop band Big Star, also performed an excellent acoustic album, but unlike Nirvana, his was unscheduled. That show is now available on the recording "Electricity by Candlelight."
