Months after pop star Britney Spears was released from her very controversial conservatorship, investigations and legal hurdles are still being pushed through.
Most recently, new claims from Britney Spears' legal camp have risen - pointing towards an alleged involvement of a major stakeholder in the creation of the singer's conservatorship.
The news came on the heels weeks after the Hit Me Baby One More Time hitmaker's star-studded and equally controversial wedding took place with longtime fiance, Sam Asghari.
Britney Spears Conservatorship Update
Britney Spears' legal team has arrived at a new standpoint. They are now claiming that the pop star's former business manager, Tri Star Sports and Entertainment, has played a "substantial role" in the creation of her controversial conservatorship.
Per Spears' lawyer, Tri Star Sports and Entertainment has received at least $18 million from the 13-year conservatorship of Britney Spears.
The Hollywood Reporter obtained new filings from the 40-year-old singer's lawyer, Mathew Rosengart.
Britney's lawyers argue that Tri Star, including its employees and founders Louise Taylor and Robin Greenhill, was directly involved in facilitating the conservatorship. The two served on Spears' business management team from 2008 until 2020.
Spear's father, Jamie, hired Tri-Star and Greenhill, although, at the time, the latter denied their involvement in the process.
"Contrary to Tri Star's public position and Ms. Greenhill's November 4, 2021 sworn Declaration in which she stated that 'in early 2008, Tri Star had no role in Ms. Spears' affairs,' Tri Star's own internal emails (obtained from a third-party) demonstrate that Tri Star's Lou Taylor played a substantial role in Ms. Spears's affairs prior to and in the early days of the conservatorship, 'in early 2008,'" the obtained filing reads.
Apparently, the documents reveal that a series of emails were allegedly sent between Louise Taylor, Jamie Spears, and his lawyer Geraldine Wyle about the establishment of the conservatorship.
In one of the emails found, it was written that Andrew Wallet was appointed to help Jamie manage Britney's estate while Tri Star "would serve as co's" with Jamie.
Not only that, Jamie Spears was alleged to have owed Taylor a huge sum of money. Thus, the backdoor hiring.
"Mr. Spears and Tri Star obtained more than $6 million and $18 million, respectively, from Ms. Spears's Estate," the filing asserts.
Tri Star has responded negatively to Rosengart's new allegations, calling them "materially misleading."
The new pieces of evidence are expected to be brought to trial, which will take place next week, July 13, 2022.
