An planned revival of the Tony Award-winning musical Spamalot, which is based on Monty Python and the Holy Grail, has cast the actor. The play revealed Wednesday that Slater, 31, will portray The Historian/Prince Herbert. Christopher Fitzgerald, James Monroe Iglehart, Leslie Rodriguez Kritzer, Jimmy Smagula, Michael Urie, and Nik Walker are also featured in the musical's cast.
As the star of the SpongeBob SquarePants musical, Slater is no stranger to the Broadway stage. He was nominated for a coveted Tony Award and received a Drama Desk Award for the performance. The St. James Theatre will host preview performances of the upcoming Spamalot revival on October 31.
An formal opening night is planned for November 16. In a statement, Eric Idle, whose book and lyrics are featured in the performance, gushed about seeing Spamalot make its Broadway comeback.
