PinkPantheress' career this year has catapulted into the mainstream when she released the "Boys A Liar Pt. 2" with Ice Spice. Although she was pretty low-key in the music scene a few years back, she only released her debut album last week.
As part of her rollout, she spoke to The Guardian about her thoughts on her last Billboard Hot 100 Top 4 hit, "Boys A Liar Pt. 2." However, her comment seemed to have been misconstrued or misinterpreted as she now goes to Twitter/X to explain it.
PinkPantheress Says 'Boys A Liar Pt. 2' Was 'Crap'
Speaking to The Guardian about "Boys A Liar Pt. 2", PinkPantheress said unflinchingly that "they're crap."
Elaborating more, she had this to say: "The songs that are not my greatest are the ones that do better."
She also called her song "Internet Baby" "crap" but her "Barbie" hit, "Angel" got into her good graces.
"It was so much fun. I was really excited to be asked. I loved the actual process of meeting the director. I got to meet Mark Ronson. I went on set," she raved about the process of creating the song.
However, fans didn't seem to like what she said about her song.
"Calling the song AND the remix crap is rude. Just say you didn't like it. Don't call it "crap".
That song was glued on billboard, a lot of ppl loved it. An "I'm grateful but this is not my best work" wouldve been more appropriate," a fan posted.
"was seeing a lots of artist disliking their good songs, why?? is this their new trend now? cus if u think u didn't like it then just don't release it," another wondered.
However, some people defended PinkPantheress for her comments, saying she can feel whatever she want about her songs.
"Why is everyone UPSET?? Nicki Feels the Same Way About HERr Most Popular Songs like Anaconda, Starships, Your Love etc etc etc," someone said.
"Artists are often their own toughest critics! It's fascinating how sometimes what doesn't resonate with the creator hits the right note with the audience. Either way, PinkPantheress has a unique sound that's undeniably catchy!" another echoed.
PinkPantheress Clarifies 'Boys A Liar Pt. 2' Comment
Pop Crave posted the said comment and it caught PinkPantheress' radar. She quote tweeted the post and clarified that her statement was misconstrued by the journalist.
"lord help us," she plead with a laughing emoji. "I told the journalist I thought the OG was crap at first but the remix made me love it, I've said this openly before too false narratives be like."
PinkPantheress fans have taken to her comments and thanked her for clarifying her statement.
"Boys A Liar Pt. 2" has been instrumental in the growth of Ice Spice and PinkPantheress' mainstream careers. Despite the huge fanfare and acclaim this year, the track wasn't nominated for any categories at the 2024 Grammy Awards.
