Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's long-distance relationship has been causing harm to the environment, internet users revealed.

Swift and Kelce have been reaching each other by jetting via plane to different countries and places they were in. For example, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end flew to Argentina to see his muse, while Swift jetted to his home city several times over the past few months.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Slammed for Traveling Too Much

According to Taylor Swift Jets on Instagram (via The Mirror), Swift used her private jets 12 times over the past three months amid her long-distance relationship with Kelce. It noted that the flights included her travels from New York to Kansas City - which were separate from her other travels for her Eras Tour.

It was revealed that the flights have produced 138 tons of CO2 emissions. The "Lavender Haze" singer would need to plant 2,282 trees to make it up for the environmental damage caused by her flights, per the news outlet.

In response to the report, internet users expressed their disappointment with the 2023 Person of the Year awardee and questioned her travel decisions.

One said, "Did we all forget that ms taylor swift is the biggest celebrity CO2 polluter in the world rn..."

"Taylor swift the person of the year wow so deserved!! She fr deserves that when she's the celebrity who has the highest CO2 emissions she did so much for this planet," another wrote, while a third shared, "The romance between Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce is bad for the planet. How much CO2 have they produced in three months?"

Taylor Swift's Representative Responded to the Backlash

Following the issue, a representative for "Look What You Made Me Do" singer issued a statement to defend the flights.

"Before the tour kicked off in March of 2023, Taylor purchased more than double the carbon credits needed to offset all tour travel," the representative said. "The excess credits means Taylor could have accounted for more than enough to cover her latest romance springing up in the middle of her sell-out tour, with her trips to support Kelce upping her carbon emissions alongside her planned tour travels."

Swift revealed in her interview with TIME Magazine that she has been dating Kelce for five months and chose to hide it from Swifties.
