Morgan Wallen has millions of fans from all parts of the globe and most of them would be excited to listen to his new releases whenever he drops something. More recently, a batch of never-before-heard tracks by the country star have been officially released, but he advises his supporters not to listen to them; what happened?
According to Variety, there are eight newly-released songs that Wallen recorded over a decade ago and he took to his social media account to warn people about the songs and told his followers not to stream them.
"I want you to know this is NOT my new music & I don't want to see this happen to anyone else... I cringe when I listen to these songs & I'm concerned my fans may mistakenly believe this is a new release by me," he wrote in an Instagram post.
The country crooner added that this is a "gross, greedy, & and example" of how the negative side of the music industry works.
Morgan Wallen Gives Background About the Newly-Released Songs
Wallen also gave a context about the songs, saying that a decade ago, he went to Florida to try his luck at making original music and songwriting for the first time.
At the time, the musician was able to strike a deal with an artist management and a local investor, but looking back at it today, he "deeply regret" the experience.
Since the singer was new to the industry at the time, he noted that he signed contract deals without any legal representation.
In total, Wallen recorded 13 songs which were not all good and he even labeled most of them as "terrible."
"Many of these songs were not my idea nor to my standards. We deemed 5 worthy-enough to make the Stand Alone EP which includes a fan-favorite,'Spin You Around,'" he added.
And then, his previous collaborators plan to release a 10th-anniversary edition of that EP against his wishes.
Morgan Wallen's Plans After the Release of His Old Songs
Later in the post, the country star said he had already re-corded the fan-favorite track "Spin You Around" and it would be released the evening after he posted his response on social media.
In addition, he will donate $100,000 from his foundation to the Volunteer Lawyers & Professionals For The Arts program. The reason why he did that was because he wanted new musicians to be inspired by his story and not give up on their dreams just to have an opportunity in the music industry.
Lastly, he told his fans that when he has new music coming out, the announcement will come directly from him.
