Austin Butler was praised by many critics and fans for his portrayal of Elvis Presley in the 2022 film "Elvis" buy Baz Luhrmann. Even after the movie premiered, the musician stayed true to his character and continued using the voice of the late rock and roll legend.

Now that it's been nearly two years since the film was released, the singer revealed that he had a hard time going back to his normal voice and even went as far as working with a dialect coach.

Butler recently appeared in an episode of "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" where he revealed that after working on the movie for over three years, he tried to grapple and figure out his true self as he forgot most of his likes.

"I was just trying to remember who I was... I was trying to remember what I liked to do. All I thought about was Elvis for three years," he said.

How Austin Butler Got Rid of His Elvis Presley Voice

The actor was able to let go of his Elvis persona when Tom Hanks offered him a role on the series "Masters of the Air."

Butler only had a few days off after filming "Elvis" then he immediately worked on the Apple TV+ show.

"I had that week off and then I flew to London - and at that time it was COVID, so I'm quarantined for 10 days - so, I thought: 'Alright, just pour all this energy into learning about World War II now,'" he told the host of the late night talk show.

Even though that he was done portraying the late singer, his voice still lingered and the only way he got rid of it was the same way how he learned it, through a dialect coach.
