ZZ Top Tour Cancelled for 2014 As Dusty Hill Recovers from Hip Injury

Unfortunately Dusty Hill didn't heal up quite as fast as ZZ Top fans might have liked and the band has cancelled 27 tour dates from its schedule for the rest of 2014. Although a statement reads that the band is aiming to make up every one of the cancelled dates during 2015, nothing is confirmed as of yet according to sources including The New York Times.

The band had been touring with Jeff Beck when Hill took a fall on the group's tour bus and injured his hip. The immediate aftermath seemed to suggest that the injuries were relatively minor, considering that the group only tried to cut just a few dates from its then-schedule. The initial announcement seemed to suggest that ZZ Top would be back on the road for a new slew of tour dates beginning on September 25 and running through the first of November.

There is some mild good news however: The rockers have managed to find time to meet up with Beck once again to make up for several of this year's cancelled dates. Those shows will take begin on May 1, theoretically giving Hill plenty of time to recuperate after injuring his hip. That six concert run will continue through May 15 and nothing has been suggested as to whether the band was aiming to make up its solo tour dates before or after the run with Beck.

Hill may be 65 but he and his cohorts have maintained an active touring lifestyle throughout the band's career and we sure hope that isn't about to end now.
