Toronto Mayor Rob Ford Diagnosed With Abdominal Tumor That May Cause Him To Pull Out Of Oct. 27 Mayoral Seat

For the better part of the past year Toronto's embattled mayor, Rob Ford, has been synonymous with scandal. After grabbing headlines left and right not just for his admitted drug use, but also for his behavior while under the influence, Ford finally decided to take a trip to rehab for 60 days last spring. Upon his release Ford had been campaigning heavily for Toronto's next mayoral race when he was side lined by extreme stomach pain. He is now hospitalized with an abdominal tumor and his future is up in the air.

According to Doug Ford, Rob's brother who is also a city councilor, the family is waiting for test results so that a decision can be made as to whether or not Rob Ford will continue in the political race. The election is scheduled for Oct. 27 with tomorrow actually being the last day that anyone can officially pull out. As of now, Ford is neck and neck with to other competitors – John Tory and Olivia Chow.

There is actually some talk that if Ford can't carry on in the election then his brother may continue in his place just to keep the Ford family at least aiming to be in a position of higher office.

What is it about Rob Ford that has made so many people support him in spite of his misconduct? Late night talk show hosts have loved him because he has supplied them with an endless amount of content to use in their opening monologues, but what about the Canadian voters that still see to want to see him serve another term? Why do they stick with Ford, and if he is side-lined then do you think they would support Doug Ford running in his place?
