Blake Shelton attracted negative comments for "being a hypocrite."
While dealing with rumors about his alleged marriage issues with Gwen Stefani, reports said Shelton wanted to cut weight by swearing to a healthy diet and ditching his drinking habits. He reportedly wanted to do so as part of his New Year's resolution.
Blake Shelton Slammed for Contradicting Words and Actions
In his bar-themed celebrity game show "Barmageddon," Shelton seemingly went back to his partying ways as he was constantly seen drinking after promising to cut back his intake on New Year.
USA Network's X page shared one of the videos from the recent episode of the show, showing Shelton, Carson Daly and Lee Metzger enjoying the drinking show. The "Who Are You When I'm Not Looking" singer held a red cup and consumed alcohol from time to time; he also took a sip of martini at one point.
The Sun shared some of the comments X users left in the comment section, with most of them expressing their concerns because of Shelton's drinking habits.
One said, "Thought he was going to cut back on alcohol so it might not be a good idea to do the show again."
Shelton did the same with the female cast members, drinking while playing darts with Nikki Garcia and Lauren Alaina.
Blake Shelton's New Year's Resolution Explained
Fans' comments came after an insider said Stefani wanted to help Shelton lose some pounds.
"Blake can get grumpy when he can't have what he wants," a source said, "[Dieting is easy for Stefani] she's always been healthy. When he wants a burger, she'll suggest a salad with grilled chicken or salmon. They'll whip up something together."
Shelton's drinking habits caused several issues for him over the years, including the incident where he fell on stage while performing at a music festival in Oregon.
It also led to a legal battle after InTouch Weekly published a report in 2015 claiming that Shelton checked into rehab after his and Miranda Lambert's divorce and that he was "drinking vodka before noon."
He filed a $2 million lawsuit against the tabloid for defamation and false invasion of privacy before dismissing the claims in a statement.
