Despite his relationship with Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce said that he had to put his personal life on hold in order to ensure that his teammates on the Kansas City Chiefs understood that his whole attention was on the team.
America's favorite couple has been making headlines since the star tight end's romance with the popstar became public in September.
The singer has attended numerous of his games, including an emotional show after the Chiefs won the AFC Championship.
After the whirlwind affair, the NFL star acknowledged he needed to step back and consider how people saw him, especially after ESPN host Pat McAfee compared his newfound celebrity to the Kardashians.
He said he had to reel it back 100 percent and make sure everyone is aware of his personal goals. Kelce stated during a guest appearance on the Pat McAfee show on Wednesday that right now, football is his main focus."
He added that many in the organization are depending on him. Thus, at the moment, this is his primary priority, and he also has a deep-seated desire to give the game everything he has.
There have been some misconceptions, and people are free to believe whatever they want, but he wanted the men and women in this building to know that he was fully committed to this team and wanted to bring them where he needed to go this week.
And without a doubt, he felt he had to reflect on how he was presenting himself to the world, step back, and make sure everyone knew I was serious-all while continuing to enjoy his life off the field."
McAfee continued by praising the two-time Super Bowl victor for sharing the limelight with the 12-time Grammy Award winner and acting as a "gentleman" throughout their very visible connection.
However, Swift and Kelce have both come under fire, with some fans and commentators holding the singer accountable for the Chiefs star's occasionally poor performance this season.
Kelce is not letting the noise bother him enough not to see the beauty of his relationship though.
"It's a beautiful thing isn't it?" Kelce responded. "We're just two people in a relationship supporting each other and having fun with it. It's nothing more than that. No matter how much the world wants to paint the picture and make us the enemy, we just have fun with it. We enjoy every single but of it."
"I love it when Taylor comes and supports me and enjoys the game with the fam and friends. It's been nothing but a wonderful year," he added.
