Phil Collins' fans supported the Genesis drummer after his ex-wife, Orianne Cevey, greeted him with a happy birthday even after their divorce.
The world knew about Collins and Cevey's highly publicized divorce in 2008 and their reconciliation in 2015. The pair drifted apart for good after their reunion, and their bitter split resumed from there.
Phil Collins' Supporters Slam Orianne Cevey
One of the issues that surrounded Collins and Cevey was when the latter refused to leave the Oscar-winning musician's Miami mansion with her then-new husband, Thomas Bates.
Thus, it was a surprise when she took to Instagram on January 30 to greet Collins with a happy birthday as he turned 73 this year.
"Happy birthday to @officialphilcollins this living legend! And the best father for my sons @nic_collins and @mcollins0112 with all my best wishes of love, health and happiness. Always, OC xxxx," she captioned the post, which featured a photo of herself and Collins.
Collins' supporters gathered on the post and flooded the comments section with criticisms as they called her out over the hypocritical move.
One said, "You have a lot to make up for on how you used this legend of a human after your destruction of his soul because of your shame of a recent marriage. I believe in forgiveness but it has to be earned."
"Are you effin kidding me??" another asked, while a third chimed in, "Why did you leave him then ???"
"this woman is off her meds. you have the audacity and still using his last name. what a leech," another user shared.
They also lambasted Cevey for humiliating and slandering Collins before and after leaving him.
Collins and Cevey were married from 1999 to 2008 and share two sons together.
Previously, Page Six released the court documents revealing that Cevey got her then-new husband from a male escort site while she was still with Collins. She then secretly tied the knot with him in 2020 in Las Vegas before moving with him into Collin's Miami Beach mansion while the singer was in Europe for a tour.
Collins learned about his ex-wife's relationship with Bates and them living in his house, leading him to file a lawsuit to throw them away from the mansion. He sold the property for $40 million.
Meanwhile, Collins wrote in the divorce documents that his wife had a "ferocious temper." She reportedly concealed his possessions from him and threatened to amputate his genitals when he asked for the belongings back.
