It has been recently claimed that the coroner who conducted Kurt Cobain's autopsy once admitted to having a personal relationship with Courtney Love, the wife of the legendary Nirvana star.
Ian Halperin, author and investigator, claimed Dr. Nikolas Hartshorne openly acknowledged a personal challenge that influenced his professional judgment regarding the tragic demise of Kurt at his residence in Seattle.
Behind Closed Doors
Dr. Hartshorne, who tragically passed away in Switzerland back in 2002, was revered by Ian as an major fan of Nirvana and Courtney Love. Ian also describes him as someone who lacked the necessary expertise in toxicology.
In an interview with The Sun, Ian revealed that back in 1996, during a conversation with Dr. Hartshorne, the medical examiner admitted that he should have been disqualified from conducting the autopsy.
Recent claims have emerged following the revelation of an alleged copy of Kurt Cobain's autopsy report.
This report, which had been kept confidential all these years due to privacy laws in Washington state, was suddenly leaked online last week.
Per the report, Kurt was found to have an array of substances in his system.
These substances included morphine, codeine, and diazepam in his bloodstream, as well as opiates and benzodiazepines in his urine. Additionally, needle track marks were observed along his right arm.
In a recent release, Ian Halperin's book shook the public with its assertion that Kurt Cobain's overdose had reached an astonishing seventy times the lethal amount. This revelation challenges the prevailing belief that the musician died by suicide.
Exposed Secrets
The Canadian documentary maker confronted Courtney Love last year, even urging her to participate in a lie-detector test to ascertain her innocence in her husband's untimely death.
This bold move hopes to shed further light on the circumstances surrounding Kurt Cobain's death.
From the beginning, Courtney vehemently rejected any insinuations of her involvement in Kurt Cobain's tragic death.
Ian explained to the outlet, "I was the first person to ever interview the coroner, and he admitted to me he should not have been the guy to do the exam. I showed up at his office one day in Seattle, and he said, 'You're Canadian, I trust you. I'll give you the first interview.' So he opened his office doors to me, and I saw Nirvana and Courtney Love posters all over his office."
"He admitted to me that he was intimately involved with Courtney, and he should never have been so presumptuous with what he put in the autopsy. He admitted it was a conflict of interest, and he should have recused himself from the case, and then another autopsy be conducted."
According to Ian, Dr. Hartshorne also revealed to him that he had actually gone on multiple dates with Courtney.
"He insinuated to me that he had something with her and said, 'I can't tell you more, but use your own imagination.' His inference was that it was potentially sexual and more than a friendship."
Ian further claimed that Dr. Hartshorne's excessive boasting gave him the perception that the medical "expert" was unpredictable and reckless.
"Still, I cannot believe he was the guy who conducted the autopsy in the case," he said. "The authorities should have knocked him off the case. He was not an expert in toxicology either. I interviewed three pathologists who said he didn't know what he was talking about."
