Ultra Sonic frontman Mallorca Lee has died weeks after revealing his tragic health diagnosis. He was 51.
Tributes poured after Lee's bandmate, DJ KID, confirmed his death on Facebook on Monday.
"During this incredibly upsetting time, my deepest sympathy goes out to Maria, Mallorca's wife, his children Angel and Oceano and his extended family and friends," part of the message read. "You will be deeply missed, brother, but your energy and legacy will live on for many years."
What Was Mallorca Lee's Cause of Death?
While DJ KID did not fully disclose his cause of death, he noted that Lee was diagnosed with terminal cancer weeks before his passing.
Fans flooded the post with heartfelt messages while others took to their respective social media pages to honor Lee.
One wrote on Facebook, "I don't have the words to express how heartbreaking this news is. Seeing Ultrasonic at Fantasia in the SECC in 1994 at my very first rave is a memory I've always treasured. My thoughts are with Mal's family and friends and may you rest easy Mal."
"One of the greats. Genuine to the last, I will miss our conversations about music and life! Rest Easy my friend! X," another said.
"Absolutely gutted to hear of the passing of Scottish dance music legend Mallorca Lee, aged just 51. Talented musician, amazing performer and all round good guy. Here's one of my favourite Ultra-Sonic tracks from 1994," one shared on X.
Lee revealed his diagnosis on his Facebook page a few weeks ago and apologized to his family and friends for not telling them about his battle.
At that time, the musician said his doctor told him he only had months to live.
"Forgive me if I don't answer your calls and messages, I'm still processing, even this post feels like someone else is writing it..." he went on. "Love, that's all we ever really have, our one true currency, so tell the ones around you what they mean to you, every day. LOVE LOVE LOVE Mall."
Lee founded Ultra Sonic in 1991 but started focusing on his solo endeavors over the past years. In 2023, he played sets in different venues in Scotland.
