Saturday marks the 20th anniversary of the release of the Notorious B.I.G.'s Ready To Die album and the late rapper's then wife Faith Evans recently opened up about the first time she heard his music.
"I wasn't really in his sessions back then cuz Puff had me working on all types of stuff, not to mention my own album," Faith Evans said during an interview with HipHopDX's DX Daily, "But when I did get a chance to hear the first few songs I heard on that album, I believed everything Puff told me because he knew. He was like, 'He's was gonna be star... He's gonna be a sex symbol.' I mean, he knew...I was like, 'Ok.' And he really did, but I mean he couldn't of done it if Big didn't have anything to work with, ya know."
The two label mates married in 1994. The Brooklyn rapper was killed in a still unsolved murder in Los Angeles in March 1997. He would have turned 42 this year.
Since her days with Biggie Smalls, Faith Evans has gone on to become a multiplatinum Grammy Award winner, New York Times best-selling author and TV producer.
She has released three platinum-certified albums (Faith, Keep the Faith and Faithfully), the gold-certified The First Lady and the holiday staple A Faithful Christmas.
The "Love Like This" singer is also celebrating a 20-year career in the music industry. She is currently gearing up for the release of Incomparable, her eighth studio album. It features the lead single, "I Deserve It," with Missy Elliott and Sharaya J.
