This weekend, Usher will take the big stage at the Super Bowl Halftime Show at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he's expected to play some of his classic R&B hits as well as newer ones from his latest album. More recently, Lil Wayne expressed his desire to also perform for next year's show.

According to Uproxx, next year's Super Bowl will take place in New Orleans and fans immediately thought of Lil Wayne to become a headliner since he was born and raised in the city.

The rap legend recentyl appeared in an interview with YG and Stevie in an episode of the "4HUNNID" podcast.

He told the hosts that any representative from the Super Bowl or the NFL have yet to contact him about performing for the show.

"I will not lie to you, I have not got a call or nothing," he said.

The outlet noted that Lil Wayne could be the perfect headliner for next year's sporting event as he's a big sports fan and even a part-time commentator, and since he's from New Orleans, it's only fitting that he performs for the Halftime Show.

"We are praying. We praying. We keeping our fingers crossed," he said.

The rapper added, "I'm working hard. I'mma make sure this next album and everything I do is killer. I wanna just make it hard for them not to holler at the boy."

As of this writing, the Super Bowl has yet to announce next year's headliner and fans will have to wait for the next few months before the NFL makes an announcement.

Since it's unclear if Lil Wayne will take the big stage next year, let's take a look into this weekend's program.

The R&B legend said in an interview last week that he wanted to make his performance an outlet to pay homage to Black artists who have been in the music industry for a long time as they were the ones who helped him be recognized in the present.

"All of my fans, my loved ones, the people who may have felt like they have been forgotten, they haven't. I'm carrying you right with me when I walk on that stage that night," he added.

Usher will perform at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, this Sunday, February 11, 2024.
