Ayo Edebiri apologized to Jennifer Lopez in her dressing room moments before they led their recent episode at "Saturday Night Live" on NBC.
Days after their slot was announced, Edebiri's past comments about Lopez's singing and performance have resurfaced on social media, with the young actress saying that Lopez is a "scam."
Ayo Edebiri Apologizes To Jennifer Lopez Over 'Scam' Comments
In a Variety interview, Jennifer Lopez revealed that Ayo Edebiri has already apologized to her for her past comments about her music career.
"She was mortified and very sweet," Lopez gushed on Edebiri. "She came to my dressing room and apologized with tears in her eyes, saying how terrible it was that she had said those things. She felt really badly and loved my performance because we had just done my soundcheck and she actually got to hear me perform. She was just like, 'I'm so fucking sorry, it was so awful of me.'"
Days after Lopez was announced as the musical guest on "SNL" and Edebiri as a host, a snippet of Edebiri's comments about Lopez on "Scam Goddess" surfaced online. Edebiri was talking ill of Lopez in an episode, saying "she thinks that she's still good, even though she's not singing for most of these songs."
"A lot of the write-ups of the songs will be like, 'J.Lo didn't have time to make it to the studio.' Like, 'J.Lo was busy.' Doing what? Not singing, obviously," she went on to say.
According to Lopez, Edebiri's comments were "funny," saying that she've "heard similar things said" about her throughout her career, so it "really didn't affect" her.
Ayo Edebiri Apologized During 'SNL' Sketch

In the game, Thompson shakes down social media trolls about the things they said in the past online. Edebiri's character seemed to address the recent controversy in her confession subtly.
"Okay. We get it," Edebiri's character said. "It's wrong to leave mean comments, or post comments just for clout, or run your mouth on a podcast, and you don't consider the impact because you're 24 and stupid. But I think I speak for everyone when I say from now on, we're going to be a lot more thoughtful about what we post online."
The two seemed to be happy appearing together on the award-winning comedy show. Edebiri introduced Lopez in both of her performances and they gushed at each other in the recorded promo for the show.
"I love your show," Lopez revealed, prompting Edebiri to say "I love your everything."
