Sabrina Carpenter is one of the biggest pop stars in today's generation, but even though she's successful now, she had a tragic childhood because of bullying.
The "Feather" hitmaker sat down in a conversation with Maya Hawke for Interview Magazine where both of them recalled their successful careers as well as their tragic childhood.
The "Stranger Things" actress opened up about her experience first as she revealed that other kids bullied her for "being too quirky and weird" and looking back at those things, it made her "sensitive" but mainly because of her little self living inside her.
Sabrina Carpenter Was Bullied as a Kid
Hawke then asked Carpenter about her childhood experience where she revealed that she was also bullied "for singing," but thankfully, everything worked out for her.
"I did well in school, but I'll be honest, I started homeschooling really young. This sounds so dramatic, but I felt safer learning the way that I did," she added. (via Music-News)
She later did online school and began working at a young age, so she was able to get out of "those little toxic circles that you sometimed don't even realize" because a person is too young.
Elsewhere in the conversation, Carpenter noted that a lot of people assumed that it was her parents' dream of being musicians that they were trying to fulfill through her.
However, she clarified that they had nothing to do with it as she began working at the age of 19 and for her, it was an amazing age to start because she was in control of what she was doing.
"I started writing my debut album as a child and I would've never, ever put that out if I had started a little bit older," she added.
