J-Pop: Anna Aya 'Someone Else' Released In The US, Boosted in Japan

The Associated Press reported that Anna Aya's "Someone Else" has been distributed by Virgin Music globally except in Japan. The song has since reached the Top 50 of US Radio and is making significant strides in the platform.

Meanwhile, Aya's song is yet to be released in Japan. The publication reported that Handcraft Entertainment, Aya's management, inked a deal with Japanese entertainment conglomerate B-Zone to further boost her music in the Land of the Rising Sun.

Anna Aya's "Someone Else" music video will be featured on the iconic Vision Screen Billboard of the Shibuya Crossing in Tokyo. The song has also earned the "Outstanding Newcomer" at Nippon Broadcasting System and "Hot Pick" at InterFM Japan.

Speaking to Joy Sauce, Anna Aya hopes that "Someone Else" would capture the attention of many more audiences for them to see how great J-Pop is.

"This is a very new concept to many people," Aya said about her mixed Japanese and English lyrics. "Some people are familiar with mixed-Asian lyrics from K-pop since it has been around for more than 10 years, but not quite J-pop music yet. So I think this is why my song has caught a lot of people's attention."

B-Zone President Masuda Toshinori Masuda is looking forward to working with Anna Aya as they sign her to B-Zone.

"This step is another critical achievement in Michael's commitment to launching the J-Pop genre on a worldwide level and we are committed to expanding Anna Aya's career as an already known model and television personality into a multi-platinum selling artist," he said in a statement.
