Beyoncé is not shy about discussing her battle with psoriasis, an inflammatory disease that affects the joints and skin.
The 42-year-old "Texas Hold 'Em" musician spoke with Essence magazine as their March/April 2024 cover star, and during that interview, she disclosed for the first time that she struggles with the illness.
She brought up the subject when talking about her new Cécred haircare line.
"I have many beautiful memories attached to my hair. The relationship we have with our hair is such a deeply personal journey," she shared to the publication.
She added, "from spending my childhood in my mother's salon to my father applying oil on my scalp to treat my psoriasis - these moments have been sacred to me."
When a person's skin replaces itself faster than the typical 21-28 days, it can lead to psoriasis.
Celebrities that have spoken out about their experiences with psoriasis are not limited to Beyoncé; Kim Kardashian has also done so extensively throughout the years.

Returning to the question of why hair culture is so intrinsic to her identity, the singer told Essence that "the conversations and debates in the salons and barbershops create a sense of community for the people who look to it as a retreat from their everyday lives."
The recent People's Choice Awards winner explained, "For them, it's a place to feel beautiful and vent, laugh, share secrets and pass down wisdom." She also said, "It's the most consistent community gathering we have. It's so important that it's a sanctuary."
Two weeks have passed since the Houston-born performer revealed her new business endeavor in a magazine interview.
"So I took the end of my name, Cé, and made it the beginning of the word sacred to create Cécred."
She also said, "From my mother's salon, daily rituals with my father, and years of experience in developing a hair care line, the journey has been just that: Cécred."
During the interview, the stunning woman revealed more about her'rebellious' choice to chop off more than ten years of hair in a pixie cut.
She claimed that after going through "a very big emotional transformation," she made the decision to cut off her hair.
The 32-time Grammy winner claimed at the time that she "just wanted it off" because she wanted her outward look to mirror the inward "metamorphosis" she was experiencing.
It occurred in 2013, amid accusations that her spouse, Jay-Z, had been unfaithful.
