Unlike her past relationships, Taylor Swift's romance with Travis Kelce has been the center of attention since it started.
Eagle-eyed viewers of the Super Bowl added more fuel to the fire when they spotted Swift seemingly feeling "the ick" when her beau did something cringe-worthy after the big game. Amid claims their relationship is fake, experts also commented on the dangers of going public and how Swift's body language was often mistranslated.
Did Taylor Swift Cringe at Travis Kelce During the Super Bowl?
Kelce paid tribute to Elvis Presley when he chanted the lyrics of King of Rock and Roll's song, "Viva Las Vegas," after the Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl 58.
President of Pomus Songs Inc. Will Bratton said, "We were very excited about him doing that. Royalties are paid for that performance through BMI."
However, fans who noticed Swift's reaction claimed the "Lover" singer felt embarrassed when her beau did that.
One said, "Honestly? The more their relationship is pushed, the more our reality feels like The Hunger Games. It's not real. Hollywood is a tool for distraction. Give it 6 months or less, they'll be broken up and everyone will have something or someone new to gossip and meme about."
"The look of panic on Taylor Swift's face as Travis Kelce chanted 'Viva Las Vegas' like a neanderthal was priceless," one X user wrote. "Some of the best advice someone ever gave me was to never date someone you wouldn't want to marry."
A third chimed in, "TRAVIS KELCE trying too hard and sing-screaming Viva Las Vegas was dumb. Ya ain't Gronk, dude. Calm tf down."
What the Experts Say About Taylor Swift's Reaction
While people suggested Swift felt "the ick" at that moment, marriage and family therapist Gary Brown told USA Today that the kind of body language is called "micro-expressions." He highlighted the fact that the public only saw snapshots or clips taken in a given moment and not truly what happened.
"What is the tone of their relationship? What is the quality of their relationship? What is the nature of their love? And so I think we really run the risk of analyzing to the point where our analysis can become pretty easily flawed," he went on.
Swift and Kelce's relationship has been the focus of the media, but Brown and experts also noted how these romances are nobody's business but the couple.
