It was revealed that music icon James Brown has refused chemotherapy treatment for his prostate cancer diagnosis before his tragic death.
"James Brown: Say It Loud" is a four-part documentary detailing the life of the late legendary singer and how he battled his prostate cancer diagnosis, among many other things.
James Brown Refused Chemotherapy Because Of His Hair
James Brown's daughter, Dr. Yamma Brown revealed in the documentary that her father refused to undergo chemotherapy treatment because he's concerned with his hair.
"He was like, 'I can't do chemo, 'cause I don't wanna lose all my hair.' I mean, this was a real thing," she revealed. "Thank God it was in the early stages enough that all he really needed was radiation. It was tough to see him go through that, but it was humbling."
Brown was notably known for his afro and straight-hair wig. He was obsessed with his brown hair, which eventually became part of his image.
Besides his prostate cancer diagnosis, Brown also suffered from high blood pressure and diabetes at the time.
"I don't wanna be babied though. I just wanna go to work," the R&B legend said after receiving his diagnosis at the time - another testament to his hard work and his moniker as the Hardest Working Man in Show Business.
The New York Post also revealed that even before his tragic death in 2006, Brown had continued his tradition of giving away turkeys for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
He was then admitted for pneumonia in the hospital and succumbed to death at 73 on Christmas of 2006.
"I was like, 'Yo, that is the most epic exit of all time.' Like, James Brown is such a star, 'I want to take the one most iconic universal day and take it over,' " producer Questlove said in the documentary. "Like, 'Even Christmas don't got nothing on me.' "

James Brown Paved The Way For Hip-Hop, R&B
James Brown's contribution to music is unmatched. His daughter, Deanna proclaimed that if it weren't for her dad, there would be no big stars in music right now.
"There would be no hip-hop. There would be no rap because he's the most-sampled artist," Brown told People Magazine. "There would be no Michael [Jackson], there would be no Usher, there'd be no Chris Brown - all these people who took from him."
The James Brown documentary can be watched on the A&E network.
