Diane Warren Gushes About Receiving Highest Honor From Songwriters Hall of Fame: Details

Diane Warren is receiving the highest honor a songwriter can receive from the Songwriters Hall of Fame; she is set to receive the 2024 Johnny Mercer Award.

"I'm beyond honored to receive the Johnny Mercer Award, especially looking at the names of the other songwriters who have gotten this great honor," Warren said in a statement following the announcement.

"When I was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, my mom was there and finally understood that I could make a living and life being what I was born to be and wake up every day loving to be... a songwriter.

Now, both she and my dad will be looking down on me with big smiles on their faces. Thank you, Songwriters Hall of Fame."

Warren is the genius behind several chart-topping hits like "If I Could Turn Back Time" by Cher, "How Do I Live" by LeAnn Rimes, "Because You Loved Me" by Celine Dion, "I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing" by Aerosmith, and many more.

Diane Warren to Receive 2024 Johnny Mercer Award

Warren will be the fourth woman to receive the Johnny Mercer Award; before her, the honor was bestowed to Carole King in 2002, Dolly Parton in 2007, and Carole Bayer Sager in 2019.

Other recipients of this award are Neil Diamond, Lionel Richie, Elton John and Bernie Taupin, Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, Paul Simmon, Phil Collins, Holland-Dozier-Holland, Frank Sinatra, and more.

Aside from her achievements in the Songwriters Hall of Fame, Warren is also a proud winner of a Grammy, Primetime Emmy, Golden Globe, Governors Award, and Oscar awards.

Diane Warren Bio-Musical 'Obsessed' Coming to Broadway

Warren's contributions to the music industry will be celebrated through a bio-musical that is headed to Broadway.

According to reports, songs written by the songwriter will be featured in the musical, including "Say Don't Go," a song she wrote alongside Taylor Swift. The song is included in the singer's "1989 (Taylor's Version)" album.

"By the age of 14 songwriting had taken over Diane's life. She was often writing three songs a day," read the synopsis of the upcoming musical.

"Her breakthrough hit, 'Rhythm of the Night,' became a worldwide smash. Diane Warren became the first songwriter in history to have seven hits on the Billboard charts, at the same time, all by different artists."

"The show has to be called Obsessed and that idea came to me from music business legend, Clive Davis....Clive repeatedly referred to Diane as being obsessive. She's obsessed with writing. She's obsessed with her songs. She's obsessed with winning an Oscar. When I heard this, I realized that Obsessed was the only possible title for a Broadway show about Diane Warren," said producer TenHengel.
