Manila did not make it to the cut of Taylor Swift's Eras Tour stops, but it introduced its own version of the singer to the world.
Taylor Sheesh, a now-famous Swift drag queen from the Philippines, has been making headlines since Swifties Philippines tapped him to perform in local malls in pursuit of garnering the "champagne problems" singer's attention and encouraging her to add Manila to her Eras Tour's Southeast Asian leg.
Swift and her team will only be stopping in Singapore, skipping Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines.
With that, Taylor Sheesh shared his thoughts about the missed opportunity.
Taylor Sheesh Comments on Taylor Swift's Eras Tour Stops
Taylor Sheesh, whose real name is Mac Coronel, had an interview with BBC Newsbeat during which he discussed his current gigs and how Swift inspired him in what he currently does.
Reflecting on Eras Tour's stops in Southeast Asia, he shared his thoughts about Filipinos already expecting not to have an Eras Tour stop in Manila due to venue-related issue.
"We Filipinos actually expected there would be no tour dates here since there is no venue to cater to the big production of her concert," he said, adding that Filipinos felt truly sad, especially those who cannot afford to watch the concert outside the country.
He added, "Actually, when Taylor announced the Asian leg will be in Japan and Singapore only, we already expected it. There is a big difference between the economy of Singapore and Manila. That's why Taylor's team chose Singapore as the only stop in South East Asia."
Meanwhile, Taylor Sheesh experienced being in the concert firsthand when he followed Swift in Australia and performed his own show attended by thousands of Swifties.
