Some sources claim that she's leaving the show because the network could not afford her higher ask for another season of the hit singing competition show.
Katy Perry Leaves American Idol
Fans of Katy Perry were surprised when she revealed to "Jimmy Kimmel" that she would be departing from "American Idol" after seven years as a judge.
"I think this probably will be my last show, my last season for Idol," she revealed "I feel like I need to go out and feel that pulse to my own beat."
However, a The Mirror insider revealed that it's more than her music endeavors.
Apparently, ABC bosses have declined her request to have a bigger payout as a judge. Katy Perry asked for a bigger pay packet than $30 million but was declined.
The source revealed that there are three factors that contributed to Perry's decision.
"Katy enjoyed the best deal for reality in TV, worth around $30m a year. It made her the (highest female star for reality and entertainment. But ABC do not want to up it after five years of increases. There is no wiggle room as the parent company Disney looks to be cost effective and keep spending down for the next couple of years," the network consultant insider shared.
Aside from wanting a bigger payout, Katy also revealed that she wanted to expand her family with her husband, Orlando Bloom.
"Katy has always told her friends that having a bigger family has been a dream. She is 40 in the fall and loves her blended harmonious family with Orlando and his ex Miranda Kerr. But she would like a little sibling for Daisy," another insider told The Mirror.

Katy Perry Now 2024: Her Music Career's Next Move
Meanwhile, PR expert Rebecca May told The Mirror that Katy Perry is "ready to make waves."
Alluding to her statement on Jimmy Kimmel, May said that the reason for her real exit was that Katy wanted to reach more audiences.
"She is now ready to launch new music and focus on her pop career. After seven years on the judging panel, she has indicated in recent interviews that she has unfinished business in the music industry and with her solo career," May explained. "Whatever the catalyst for her resignation as a judge, her co-judges were shocked by the news, but I am sure this decision is strategic for her wider career. Given that her Las Vegas Residency came to an end last November, she appears motivated to make bold changes and reignite her true passions."'
