If the goal was to surprise, mission accomplished.
Friday, Miley Cyrus tweeted a link to a new addition on her Soundcloud page: a faithful cover of Led Zeppelin's "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You."
Working over freshly recorded instrumentation (was that Miley on the guitar?), Cyrus unleashes all hell on one of Zep's blues-iest songs. Originally written by Anne Brendon and later sung by Joan Baez, the tune oozes heartbreaking angst.
When it gets loud, Cyrus holds her own, hitting several Robert Plante notes that many singers can't muster up the emotion to attempt.
She adds her own twist to the "walking in the park" line toward the end, shouting, "Every f---ing day!"
Heck, it's Saturday afternoon. Give it a shot:
In a new interview with V, Cyrus explained her new fashion line, Dirty Hippy. Early 2014 was a tumultuous time for Miley — her dog Floyd passed away and she entered the hospital for weeks following a severe allergic reaction to medicine — so she channeled her hurt into a new creative venture.
"This seems so f---ing lame to say but I feel like my art became kind of a metaphor — an example of my life," she said. "Because a bunch of sh---y things kept happening. I've always been so f---ing lucky. Everything has always just been easy for me."
If you're currently chilling south of the border (or feel like booking a flight), Miley is playing a handful of shows in the area soon:
